Roland Koelsch

Roland became a Real Estate broker in 1975 quite by accident, really, when a neighbor could not sell his condominium at Lewis Wharf in Boston. At the time he lived in the first waterfront warehouse that had been converted to condos, pioneering that way of life before loft living came into popularity. As it turned out Roland was able to find a buyer for his neighbor and decided to focus his skills in the real estate profession, were he founded Boston Waterfront Realty which in a few years added over a dozen brokers and salespeople and grew to the leading Real Estate company with about 85% market share of waterfront properties in Boston.

The company was sold to Coldwell Banker in 1997 and Roland joined that firm as a Vice President until 2003 when is joined ReMax Waterfront Realty for several years before joining Katzenbach and Company in 2005. Prior to his real estate career he worked for a family owned grain and feed brokerage business whose function was to import grain and feed products into New England from the mid west for animal consumption.

Roland and his wife, June Hatfield purchased a second home on the Westport River in 1982, They loved the area so much that even though they lived in Boston full-time they ventured to Westport every weekend year round. During this period he found time to sell property in the Westport area. Roland and June sold their Boston condo in 2003 and moved to their 1808 cottage permanently.

Roland has been an avid sailor all his life and enjoys sailing his Arey's Pond cat boat on the East Branch. His favorite interests besides sailing are photography, foreign travel and music, especially classical.
